With the immense suffering and animal cruelty that exists in the fur industry, concerned customers are demanding a fur-free future and the fashion industry is listening. 

Not only have well-known department stores like Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue already gone fur-free, but most fashion companies, including ELLE magazine, Dolce & Gabbana, Moncler, Canada Goose, Gucci, Burberry, Armani, Michael Kors, and dozens of others have announced fur-free policies as well! 

Fur products are always based on animal suffering. And yet, despite ongoing efforts by organizations to work with them to adopt a fur-free policy, Dillard’s remained the last major department store in the U.S. to still sell fur.  

This is why in the spring of 2023, FOUR PAWS USA, the Humane Society of the United States, Born Free USA, and Last Chance for Animals called on Dillard’s to stop selling fur through a national campaign that urged supporters to contact the company.  

Through outreach to all our networks, people were urged to contact Dillard’s corporate leadership and ask them to go fur-free! We did this because Dillard’s needs to hear from caring consumers that animals’ matter and because every fur-free policy and fur ban helps drive innovation for more sustainable and humane alternatives. By going fur-free, Dillard’s is making both a smart business decision and compassionate choice for animals. 

And guess what! Thanks to thousands of emails and calls from animal lovers, Dillard’s has removed ALL fur products from its website; a clear sign that your voice is being heard! The coalition will continue to keep an eye on Dillard’s in hopes of an official fur-free policy being made, but in the meantime, we are still thrilled with the response and couldn’t have made this happen in just two months of campaigning without our amazing supporters!  

Together, our actions do make a positive difference for animals, and we thank everyone for making animal-friendly fashion, the only kind of fashion!
